Robert Tripp, Jr.
Robert Kanila Tripp, Jr., 91, of Hilo, died Aug. 13, 2018, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in Laupahoehoe, and was a retired truck driver with Meadow Gold Dairies, Inc., a member and former Bishop of the Keaukaha Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a US Army veteran of World War II.
A funeral service was Aug. 30 at the Hilo Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2.
He is survived by his son, Henry Kealiiheleua Joseph (Keala) Tripp of Kapolei; daughters, Joyce Napua Johansen of Hilo, Charlene Kuuipo (Koli) Kauvaka of Ewa Beach, Wanza Uilani (Fetu’u) Falevai of Kahuku and La Rue Lauaeomakana (Siotame) Lauaki of Laie; brother, Randall Tripp of Oahu; 30 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Benjamin Medallia
Benjamin “Butch” Medallia, 74, of Waipahu and formerly of Hilo, died July 9, 2018, at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. He was born in Hilo, graduated from Hilo High School and first employed as a tour escort with Tradewind Tours Hawaii, retired as the briefing manager from Aloha V.I.P. Tours, and was a veteran of the US Navy.
Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the Mililani Memorial Park &Mortuary Makai Chapel, for a 10 a.m. memorial service. Interment 1 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) with full military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Medallia of Waipahu; son, Michael Fujita of the mainland; daughter, Shawn Leland of the mainland; stepson, William (Bella) Cooper of the mainland; sisters, Arlene (Ceriaco) Tacderan of Kailua-Kona and Hilo and Alice (Joseph, Jr.) Farias of Hilo; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, two step-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Glen Manikis, Sr.
Glen Lane Manikis, Sr., 63, of Portland, Ore., formally of Hakalau, died Aug. 8, 2018, at his home. He was born in Hawaii and was a retired ramp agent for Delta Airlines.
Friends may call from 5-6 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Glad Tidings Church at 116 Kapiolani St., Hilo. A celebration of his life begins at 6 p.m. Casual attire and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Charlene Manikis of Portland, Ore.; children, Desmond, Micheal, Jovan, Glen “Sonny” Jr. and Angela from Hawaii and the mainland; mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Miller of Hilo; brother, Gilbert Manikis, Jr. of Oregon; sisters, Patty Lee (Patrick) De Silva and Jasanda (Herbert) Laranang of Hilo; numerous grandchildren; numerous family and friends.

Daniel Kahuanui
Daniel Henry Kahuanui, 84, of Kawaihae, died Aug. 21, 2018, at his residence. Born in Kohala on Dec. 7, 1933, he was a golf maintenance man at the Mauna Lani Resort. He was a security officer for Securitas Security Services and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 1, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kamuela for a noon funeral service. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by his daughters, Danette (Kerwyn) Kaahanui and Keola Kahuanui of Kawaihae; son, Johnston Kahuanui of Honolulu; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Julia Kaulukukui
Julia Leilani Kaulukukui, 90, of Hilo, died Aug. 26, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices formerly known as Hospice of Hilo. Born on May 5, 1928, in Hilo, she was a retired cashier for Kona Hilton Hotel in Kona and she worked for Ming’s Jewelry in Hilo/Kona, and Hulihee Palace in Kona. She also was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Keaukaha Ward).
A graveside service will be 9 a.m. Aug. 31 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2., section A, row 20, plot 02. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Condolences can be mailed to Lynette Estencion at 219 Desha Ave., Hilo.
She is survived by daughters, Lynette (Rodney) Estencion of Hilo and Jinny (Kaua) Park of California; son, James (Lehua) Kaulukukui, Jr. of Waikoloa, Hawaii; one daughter-in-law; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

AurelioTumpap Jr.
Aurelio P. Tumpap Jr, 70, of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 19, 2018, at home. Born on Aug. 27, 1947, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte Philippines, he was a retired Army master sergeant, former JROTC instructor and worked as Hilo airport security.
Friends may call at New Hope Christian Fellowship-Kupulau at 10 a.m. Sept. 1. Services begin at 11 a.m.
Aurelio is survived by his wife, Purisima Tumpap of Pepeekeo; sons Auredith “Tino” (Caroline) Tumpap of Oahu, Aurelio Tumpap II of Pepeekeo; daughter Victoria (Dre) Gray of Germany. Four grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
